Botox, collagen, Restylane, Sculptra and Radiesse belong to a group of substances known as injectable fillers. The substances work to smooth the skin and restore a more youthful appearance when injected into facial areas. Wrinkles, creases, sunken facial areas and the lips can all be treated with injectable fillers.
Am I a good candidate for injectable fillers?
Fort Myers Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Mandraccia can help you determine candidacy for this procedure after a thorough examination, and can determine which injectable filler is right for you. Generally speaking, individuals who are physically healthy, have realistic expectations and are unhappy with the appearance of facial skin or lips may be good candidates for a procedure using an injectable filler.

How is the injectable filler procedure performed?
The injectable filler procedure is quick and simple. Administered in Dr. Mandraccia's office, the area to be treated will be numbed, then a fine needle is used to inject the filler directly beneath the skin. Most patients experience little discomfort. The entire procedure takes about forty-five minutes. In some cases, a series of treatments may be necessary.
What happens during the recovery period?
Recovery after most injectable filler procedures is minimal. Normal activities can generally be resumed immediately, although side effects may include minor bruising, swelling or redness that typically subsides within a few days. Less common risks include allergic reaction, anesthesia reaction, numbness or skin discoloration.
How long will the results of my injectable filler procedure last?
Most fillers do not offer permanent results. The procedure will have to be repeated to maintain results. The length of time your results will last depends upon the type of filler received. Generally speaking, the results achieved from collagen, Botox and fat injections may last as long as six months, Restylane lasts as long as one year. Radiesse offers about a year and a half of results and Sculptra generally lasts two or more years.
